New Orleans Medical Mission Services, Inc. was organized in 2001 by Greater New Orleans physicians and businessmen to provide services to the needy in several ways. We do so first by providing medical and surgical care to the needy of our Central and South American mission locations. We help ourselves by reprocessing unused medical materials which would otherwise be discarded by our local hospitals. We donate all surgical materials used on the medical mission.
We can do this because of the generous support of doctors, nurses, hospitals, medical supply and pharmaceutical companies.
We are funded by grants, corporate donations and by monies raised at our Annual Mission Possible Gala and Golf Tournament.
NOMMS is a group of over 600 volunteers with a wide range of skills and knowledge who share a common set of values. The services provided include various surgeries, physical therapy, eye examinations and free eye glasses plus dental examination and treatment. We've conducted missions to Ecuador, Nicaragua, Honduras and Panama and plan to add more countries.
NOMMS volunteers pay their own way and donate their vacation time to be a part of our work.
You can support our organization through prayer, participation, materials, ideas and funding.
NOMMS is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and is further classified by the IRS as a 509(a)(2) public charity. NOMMS has been externally audited since 2004 and is in compliance with GAAP. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY available by request.
