Two or three times a year we send a team of doctors, nurses, and staff to offer surgical and optical treatments to underserved communities in Latin America. Here are our most recent missions.

PUERTO PLATA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - APR 2025

NOMMS completed our 2025 Dominican Republic mission. We saw over 2,700 patients in the eyeglass clinic and did over 60 surgical procedures including plastic and general surgery, ENT, Female pelvic reconstruction and incontinence, and Orthopedics. We had a fantastic team of 65 compassionate, hardworking medical professionals and other volunteers. I am grateful for their selfless dedication to helping those less fortunate and welcome them all back for future missions.

CUENCA, ECUADOR - MAY 2026

OUR MISSIONS

The Spring 2026 mission to Cuenca, Ecuador was a tremendous success. It had one of our highest attendance with 65 volunteers, including six physicians, ten nurses, six CRNAs, and other support personnel including a PA, surgical techs, three medical residents and support volunteers.

This mission hosted our first eye clinic in Ecuador, and it was outstanding, with over 2,600 patients served. There were also 47 orthopedic surgeries, 10 plastic, 18 Uro/Gyn, and 16 general surgeries. The total value of our mission services is over $820,000! We will be returning to Cuenca in the Fall of 2026.

Our wonderful volunteer, Ken, represents a group who makes the "Handy Hand", an inexpensive yet very effective prosthetic hand. Here he is with a recent recipient!

CUENCA, ECUADOR - NOV 2025

Our fall 2025 mission went to Cuenca, Ecuador, the third largest city in Ecuador located in the Andes at 8,500 feet. There were 52 participants, including physicians, nurses, medical technicians and volunteers. We departed New Orleans on November 1 and returned on November 8.

Travel on this mission was marked by delays, and we lost one day of service. Our first day, Monday was for clinics, where our physicians met with patients and scheduled surgeries for the next three days. We performed 44 surgeries including pediatric orthopedic, plastic surgery, urology and general surgery. We also conducted 55 medical consultations.

Cuenca was a wonderful host city and we are planning on returning in 2026.
